Why is purity so important?

The will of God in our life is Purity.

How do we know that? 1 Thessalonians 4:3-8

Also look at Leviticus 19:2 Where God says “Be holy as I am holy”

We are called to be holy and one of the things that keeps us from truly being holy is lack of purity.

We as Christians must
not reject what the bible says in 1 Thessalonians 4:3-8 can when we do
in turn what is happeneing is that we are rejecting God.

There are 5 things that we can do to maintain purity in our lives

  1. Accountability – It is key and it starts off with a good friend who will scold us and bring us back up and rebuild us

  1. Prayer – If you
are not praying to remain pure, it’s going to be difficult to remain
pure. Pray daily and specifically for your own purity.

  1. Memorization
Memorize scripture and when you are tempted to have impure thoughts
repeat the scripture/scriptures as many times as you have to until that
    thought goes away

Matthew 5: 27, 28
"You have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery. But I tell
you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed
adultery with her in his heart.

2 Timothy 2:22
“Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love
and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.”

Galatians 5:16,17 “So
I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the
sinful nature. For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the
Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are
in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want.”

  1. Mind – It is hard
to control our mind when we flip on the TV and Tony Soprano is on
having an affair with his wife in your living room

If we can control what images come into our mind we will have a better shot at staying pure than you know.

Job made a covenant in his life

Job 31:1 “I have made a covenant with my eyes not to look lustful at a girl.

He made up his mind.

What if he lived in today’s culture He understood the wisdom of

Proverbs 6:27 “ Can a man scoop fire into his lap without his cloths being burned?”

Jobs covenant forbade a second look. DON’T LOOK BACK! I know it is hard I am a single guy too.

  1. Hedges - We need
to put hedges, we need to watch what we watch, we need to listen to
what we listen to, we need to look ahead and make wise decisions on the
places that we chose to go.

Be careful how you treat other men or women around you; flirting is fun but it can be very dangerous.

Be smart in situations
